Oh Lord Buddha !

I, Amrapali humbly stand before you,

surrendering my self completely to you,

leaving behind my ego

charm, grace and beauty

also my love in purity.

I was singing and reciting melodies

to please the king's court,

and was dancing with grace

to charm the peoples' heart.

Thus, I desired to attain fame

and wanted everyone to call my name.

But realized this is not the way of life,

for others welfare I should strive.

Oh Lord Buddha ! You taught

and I understand that

Desire is the root cause of all evils.

I join the humanity,

which you lead

and who follow you:

Buddham saranam gachchami

Dhammam saranam gachchami

Sangam saranam gachchami
